You Are Welcome Here... Here's a bit on Chiron: The symbol for the centaur Chiron, ⚷, is both a key and a monogram of the letters O and K for 'Object Kowal', and was presented upon discovery, as the symbol of "an inspiration". This design symbolizes the unlocking of healing and wisdom, as well as the idea of accessing hidden or suppressed knowledge and information. While the Chiron key is not a traditional Sigil, it functions similarly as a symbolic representation of a concept—in this case, healing and transformation. Chiron's archetype is deeply related to holistic wellness, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in achieving overall health. The concept of the "wounded healer" in Chiron's mythological story, highlights the idea that personal pain and struggles can lead to profound empathy and a deep understanding of others' suffering. In holistic wellness, this perspective encourages individuals to explore their own wounds and traumas, recognizing them as potential sources of growth and healing. This journey of self-discovery and healing can be an integral part of one's wellness journey.

Chiron, is a centaur known for his wisdom and healing abilities; He was a mentor, teacher of the healing arts, medicine, music and prophecy. The name "Chiron" means "Hands" or skilled with his hands. Chiron also has a strong ancient connection to the Sagittarius centaur or is sometimes seen as one in the same... they are said to be Inspired by the Muses - the inspirational goddesses of literature, science, and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge embodied in the poetry, lyric songs, art and myths; (the basic meaning of the word "muse", is to 'put in mind'; In modern figurative usage, a muse is a person who serves as someone's source of inspiration - as is its application at Alicia key Holistic Wellness. Chiron was said to be civilized and moral (unlike the other centaurs) and kind-hearted. Chiron's story is marked by his incurable wound - although being a healer, he could not heal himself - which led to his association with the concept of the "wounded healer." This story is similar to the Apostle Paul, who was said to have an incurable thorn in his flesh. Chiron is often associated with a person's deepest wounds and also the catalyst/potential for the deepest healing... 'The wound is the place where the Light enters you.' Rumi. The concept of the "wounded healer" in Chiron's story highlights the idea that personal pain and struggles can lead to profound empathy and a deep understanding of your own and others' suffering. Additionally, Chiron's role as a teacher and mentor aligns with the holistic wellness approach that values guidance and knowledge from various sources, including mentors, life-coaches, therapists, and holistic practitioners. His teachings emphasized the importance of balance and harmony, which are core principles in holistic practices. By acknowledging and integrating different aspects of one's being, such as physical health, emotional well-being, and spiritual growth, individuals can achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life. Thus, Chiron's mythological story-tale and astrological symbolism offers valuable insights into holistic wellness, emphasizing the importance of addressing all facets of the self, encourage looking within to understand one's vulnerabilities and strengths, ultimately fostering a more compassionate and holistic approach to health and well-being. Hence, learning from personal experiences, and using this knowledge to heal and grow.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE HEART...

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES...

SIMPLE YET PROFOUND MESSAGES OF THE HEART...

LOVE: A Living Dialogue

Love is a Vital Key to unlock Healing: “There is a voice that doesn't use words. Listen… Listen to silence. It has so much to say… Listen with the heart, it knows a thousand ways to speak. Love is the key that unlocks the mysteries of the heart. A lover may be drawn to this love or that love, but finally, one is drawn to the Sovereign of Love...God. However much we describe and explain love, …we are ashamed of our words. Explanation by the tongue makes most things clear, but love unexplained is clearer. Only Love itself can explain love… for the proof of the sun is the sun itself. As you live deeper in the heart, the mirror gets clearer and cleaner. But know this…We are the mirror, as well as the face in it. Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. Try something different. Surrender! For its… Only from the heart, can you touch the sky…” RUMI I’ve been thinking a lot about this small yet profound word: love. It’s fascinating how just four letters can hold such an immeasurable depth - so simple, yet so vast that poets, scholars, artists, and mystics have spent lifetimes trying to grasp its essence. Love is both the softest whisper and the mightiest force, both a gentle touch and an unstoppable current. I want to explore something truly essential: how love heals - not just personally, but collectively. We’ll look at it from three perspectives: 1.The Philosophical Perspective – What is love beyond words? How does it shape our understanding of life? 2.The Holistic Wellness Approach – How does love impact our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being? 3.The Everyday Seeker’s Experience – How can we, in our daily lives, cultivate love as a healing force? The Science and Energy of Love Love is not just a feeling - it is a measurable force, an energy that influences our entire being. Studies show that emotions like love, gratitude, and compassion lower stress, reduce blood pressure, and boost immune function. The HeartMath Institute has found that love creates coherence in the heart’s electromagnetic field - meaning, the energy of love isn’t just within us, it radiates outward, affecting those around us. This idea isn’t new. Ancient traditions have always recognized love as a life force: prana in Ayurveda, chi in Chinese medicine, and the anointing presence in spiritual traditions. Love is the energy that harmonizes, restores, and renews. When we feel love - whether for ourselves or others - our bodies enter a state of healing. Neuroscience confirms this: love triggers oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine, the very chemicals responsible for peace, joy, and healing. It’s incredible to think that something so abstract and ethereal can be so biologically and physically real. Yet, this is the nature of love - it is both seen and unseen, measurable and unmeasurable, simple yet infinitely complex. But how does this understanding translate into real, practical healing? Self-Love: The Foundation of Healing True healing begins with self-love. When we love and accept ourselves, we create an inner sense of safety - a state that allows the nervous system to relax. Chronic stress, which is the root of many illnesses, often comes from being stuck in fight-or-flight mode. But when we practice self-love, we send a powerful message to ourselves: “You are safe. You are cared for.” Simple daily practices - like affirmations, self-compassion meditations, mindful eating - are all ways we nurture our inner well-being. Even choosing to rest when needed is an act of self-love. And let’s not forget: self-love also means self-forgiveness. Holding onto guilt, shame, or resentment blocks the body’s natural ability to heal. Think of it like a clogged stream - when we forgive ourselves, we remove the blockage, and life can flow freely again. This concept is echoed in many traditions - spiritual and scientific alike. Releasing old pain, letting go of past mistakes, and allowing ourselves to be human, to be imperfect, is a crucial part of the healing process. This is what it means to love oneself - not just in words, but in deep, embodied acceptance. Love as the Key to Healing Relationships and Communities Love doesn’t just heal individuals - it heals relationships, families, and entire communities. When love is intentionally practiced, it rebuilds trust and connection. Families that have experienced conflict or trauma can heal through deep listening, honest conversations, and small acts of kindness. Love is not passive - it is an action that dissolves walls and builds bridges. And on a community level? Love creates cohesion. When people gather in love - whether through service, healing circles, or simple acts of kindness - a ripple effect begins. Energy spreads. Healing expands. Spiritual traditions have always taught this: when people come together in love, its power multiplies. This is why movements of peace, of social change, of transformation have always been rooted in love. Because love is the only force strong enough to dissolve fear, to break cycles of pain, and to create something entirely new. A Practical Path Forward: Cultivating Love Daily The most beautiful thing about love? It is both infinite and practical. We don’t have to wait for grand gestures. Healing through love is a daily practice - a way of life. Here’s how we can embody it: •Speak words of kindness - to yourself and to others. •Treat your body with care and nourishment. •Offer love through small gestures of service. •Practice forgiveness, allowing love to dissolve resentment. •Engage in meditation, prayer, or energy work that aligns you with love’s highest frequency. And here’s something profound: The more love you give, the more love you generate within yourself. Love isn’t something we run out of. It is an infinite wellspring - the more we tap into it, the more it flows. The Final Invitation: Love More So, as we reflect on the power of love, I encourage you to shift your perspective. Love is not something we seek - it is something we are. Just as fish exist in water, we exist in love. The only task is to remove the barriers we’ve placed against it. And so, I leave you with this: Go forth and love. Love yourself. Love others. Love more. And watch how healing unfolds - within you and all around you.

Let's start with a question. Could love be more than just an emotion? What if it’s a living, dynamic force, that connects us to everything - ourselves, each other, nature, even the cosmos? I want to submit to you that this is a such a powerful idea. Since we tend to think of love as this fleeting feeling - something that happens between people or amid specific moments. But what if it’s more than that? What if love is as the heartbeat of the universe/the divine source/ God - always there, always flowing, waiting for us to notice? Right. So, Love isn’t static - it evolves, it transforms. Think about it: when you hold a baby, help a stranger, or even pause to admire a sunset, what’s happening? That’s love in motion. It’s not confined to romance or specific relationships - it’s a force that’s woven into everything. I love this perspective. Don’t it make love feel so much bigger - something alive. But how can we experience it on that level? How can we recognize love as a force, and not just a feeling - it’s also that? Here’s a REFLECTION Pause: Let’s just take a few seconds to connect with the idea of love as a force for us to personally experience. Now one way is to look at how love works through energy. Think about the warmth you feel when someone smiles at you or the calm that washes over you in a moment of kindness. That’s love reshaping your biology - slowing your heartbeat, soothing your nervous system. It’s like a ripple effect, moving through you and out into the world. And it’s not just emotional or physical. Love is deeply connected to growth. It pushes us to confront fears, let go of grudges, and embrace the unknown. It teaches us patience, forgiveness, and how to see beauty in imperfection. So, love heals - not by fixing us, but by making space for us to be whole. It’s a gentle force that whispers, “You’re enough, just as you are,” even while it invites us to keep evolving. All profoundly True… But what about love as connection? How does love link us to the world around us - not just people, but nature, and even the universe? This is a Great question. Let’s take a moment to think about a blade of grass. It seems so simple, right? But it’s actually part of an incredible web of love. That grass turns sunlight into life, it breathes oxygen into the air, and its roots connect with the soil in ways we can’t even see. It’s an act of giving, of harmony. That’s love - present in something as small as a blade of grass. And if we zoom out to the cosmos? Love is there too. Gravity pulls stars and planets together - it’s a force of attraction. On the grandest scale, the universe is built on relationships, on connections. Love isn’t just a human thing - it’s universal. Here’s a REFLECTION Pause #2: Where do you see love in your own lives? - In the small details? And in the big picture? Now here’s the challenge: how do we live in alignment with this force? How do we let love guide us in our daily lives? Maybe it’s about presence. Love asks us to pause, to notice. It’s in the way sunlight dances on water, the texture of soil in your hands, or the sound of laughter. Notice…When we’re fully present, love becomes tangible. It’s not something we have to chase - it’s already here. Yes… and love also asks us to act - to care for what surrounds us. Whether it’s planting a seed, mending a relationship, or helping someone in need, every act of love creates ripples that extend far beyond us. So, to live love is to remember that we’re not separate. Like the blade of grass that belongs to the field, we belong to each other, to the earth, to the universe/to God/to divine source. Therefore, Love then invites us to break down barriers, and to see ourselves in all things. It is possible… A Final REFLECTION Pause: Let’s take another moment/a breath/a pause of silence, to be Present, to imbibe the idea of love as connection, as energy, and as growth, as essential. See, Love isn’t just something we feel - it’s who we are. It’s the force that breathes life into everything. And when we live in alignment, in coherence with love, we’re not just transforming ourselves - we’re transforming the world. So, let love be your guide. Find it in the vast, find it in the small, and let it show you the beauty that’s always been there. Together let’s live love. Together let’s share love. Together, let’s Love! And Now Here’s My Call to Action: I want to invite you to take away from this conversation and explore the following two ideas: 1. Where can you bring more love into your lives? 2. How can you see yourself sharing more love with others? My prayer is that everyone listening, will leave inspired - to start seeing and experiencing love as a living, dynamic force that’s always present, in us and all around us…only waiting for us to be Present to Notice! Thanks so much for your attention… And until next time… BE WELL… EXTRA READINGS ON LOVE: Let’s explore love from this perspective: a living, dynamic force that evolves and connects us on multiple levels "Love: The Living Force of Wellness" Love is not static - it’s a living force that breathes life into every part of our being. In the context of holistic wellness, love moves beyond a fleeting emotion and becomes an intentional practice, a way of being, and a source of profound transformation. Love as Energy: Love vibrates through us like a pulse, influencing our thoughts, actions, and even our biology. It’s the warm glow that soothes our nervous system and the energy that drives acts of courage, kindness, and compassion. Love as Connection: Love isn’t confined to romantic relationships—it’s the thread that weaves together humanity, nature, and spirit. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a silent moment in nature, or a shared smile, love reminds us that we are never truly alone. Love as Growth: Love challenges us to evolve. It asks us to confront fears, let go of grudges, and open our hearts to the unexpected. It teaches us patience, humility, and the beauty of imperfection. In the holistic view, love heals. It heals not by fixing us, but by holding space for us to be our fullest selves. Love is the gentle force that reminds us that we are enough, even as we strive to grow. So, let love be your guide—whether in your daily routines, your relationships, or your quiet moments of reflection. In every act of love, big or small, we create ripples of wellness that extend far beyond ourselves. Here’s another perspective: it’s a beautiful way to approach love. "Love: The Essence of Being" Love is not just something we feel or do; it is the very fabric of existence. It is the silent intelligence that pulses through all things, the unseen force that binds the infinite to the finite, the universal to the individual. At its core, love is presence. It is the recognition of connection in all things, from the vastness of the cosmos to the quiet miracle of a blade of grass. In the blade of grass, we find love expressed as life—a simple, yet profound declaration of existence. It bends to the wind, drinks the rain, and reaches for the light, embodying resilience and unity with nature. To define love, we must move beyond words and into experience: See love as: Love arises in the stillness when we notice the intricate veins of a leaf or the way sunlight dances on water. It is the deep breath that allows us to see life as it is—interconnected, alive, and sacred. Look to the blade of grass and see the vastness within it. Love is there, in the smallest and the greatest, waiting to be recognized, honored, and expressed. Love becomes tangible when we care for what surrounds us. It’s in the act of planting a seed, nourishing a relationship, or mending what is broken. Love flows effortlessly when we align ourselves with the rhythms of the universe—trusting that, like the seasons, all things have their time and purpose. When we embody love, it ceases to be an abstract concept. It becomes a way of seeing, being, and doing—a gentle yet powerful force that transforms not just us, but the world around us. Love: The Thread of All Existence" Love is not a feeling, nor an act—it is the silent foundation of everything we know and everything we seek to understand. It is the rhythm beneath the chaos, the light behind the veil, the stillness that speaks when all else fades. Love is both infinite and intimate, encompassing the vastness of the cosmos and revealing itself in the simplest, humblest forms—like a blade of grass. To grasp love, we must unlearn what we think we know. Love is not confined to human emotion or theoretical ideals. It is the very pulse of life itself, the silent intelligence that animates all things. It is the essence of the universe expressing itself in form. See Love in the Vast and the Minute: (take a journey with me) Consider the blade of grass, standing unnoticed by many, yet performing miracles daily. It turns sunlight into nourishment, breathes life into the air, and softens the earth with its roots. Each blade bends in harmony with the wind, thriving in collaboration with soil, water, and sky. Here, love is tangible—it is the invisible force that unites all these elements in harmony. Now, expand your gaze. This same love governs galaxies, guiding stars as they birth and die, orchestrating the dance of planets. Love is the thread that connects the infinite expanse of the cosmos to the minute existence of a single blade of grass. Love as Presence: To know love, we must be present. It is found not in striving but in surrender—surrender to the awe of being alive. When you stand barefoot on the earth and feel its cool embrace, when you pause to trace the delicate symmetry of a flower, or when you hear the wind whisper through the trees, you are touching love. Love asks nothing of us but to notice, to honor, and to align. It is the quiet joy of being in harmony with what is, without needing to change it. Love is the bridge between the seen and the unseen, the finite and the infinite. It is the formless essence that finds expression in the tangible. Just as the blade of grass is a small yet complete expression of the earth’s vitality, so too are we expressions of love in human form. When we move with love—whether tending to a garden, comforting a friend, or simply breathing mindfully—we align with this greater force, allowing it to flow through us and into the world. Living Love : To live love is to remember that we are not separate from the whole. The blade of grass does not stand alone; it belongs to the field. So, too, do we belong—to each other, to the earth, to the vastness that created us. Living love means letting go of barriers, seeing ourselves in all things, and acting with the awareness that every gesture ripples through the web of life. In every moment, love invites us to pause and listen. It whispers to us in the simplest things—a sunrise, a kind word, the texture of soil between our fingers. Love is the eternal call to remember that we are already whole, already connected, already home. Let love be your guide - not as an abstract concept, but as the living force that animates your every breath. Find it in the vast, find it in the minute, and watch as the world unfolds its beauty in response. A Factual layer of Love Love: The Fundamental Force of Connection Imagine you are a Martian, visiting Earth for the first time. You observe humans speaking of love with reverence and passion, yet it seems intangible, like a human dream or fantasy. But stay long enough, look closer, and patterns emerge—patterns that reveal love not as mere sentiment, but as the fundamental principle of connection, governing life and existence itself. The Science of Love 1. Love as Bonding: The Biological Thread: From a biological perspective, love is the mechanism through which life sustains itself. Oxytocin, often called the “love hormone,” is released in moments of connection—when a mother cradles her child, when friends embrace, or when partners share intimacy. This hormone is not just about feeling good; it fosters trust, reduces stress, and strengthens social bonds, all of which are essential for survival. Without this bonding force, societies—and indeed species—would falter. 2. Love as Cooperation: The Evolutionary Advantage Evolutionary biology shows that cooperation and altruism—acts often rooted in love—offer survival advantages. In nature, the pack that nurtures its young and protects its weakest members thrives. The very ecosystems that sustain life on Earth depend on symbiotic relationships, where love, expressed as mutual care, ensures balance and continuity. 3. Love in Physics: The Law of Attraction On a cosmic level, we see love mirrored in the very forces that shape the universe. Gravity, often described as the “force of attraction,” pulls matter together to form stars, planets, and galaxies. In this way, love can be understood as the universe’s innate tendency toward unity and cohesion. The Tangible Blade of Grass: Now turn your gaze to the blade of grass. What does it teach us about love? Photosynthesis as a Gift: This humble plant takes sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water and transforms them into oxygen and nourishment—not just for itself, but for all living creatures. Its existence is an act of giving, an exchange that sustains life. Root Networks: A Silent Brotherhood: Beneath the soil, the blade of grass is not isolated. It belongs to a vast network of roots and fungi that communicate, share nutrients, and support one another. This unseen cooperation is an act of love expressed as survival. Love Beyond Humans: If love were merely a human emotion, it would be irrelevant to the rest of existence. Yet we see love echoed in the behavior of animals, ecosystems, and even nonliving systems: - Animals: Dolphins supporting an injured pod member, elephants mourning their dead, bees sacrificing their lives to protect their hive—all demonstrate care, connection, and a form of love beyond emotion. - Ecosystems: Forests thrive because of interconnected systems, where each organism—from the smallest bacterium to the tallest tree—plays a role in nurturing the whole. Love as the Language of the Universe: To convince a Martian—or ourselves—of love’s universality, we must step back and view the larger picture: - Every element of existence is interconnected, from subatomic particles binding together to form matter, to stars giving their lives in supernovas so that the elements for life could be born. - Love, then, is not just a feeling or concept; it is the universal tendency toward connection, cooperation, and creation. When you see the blade of grass, you are seeing love in action. It participates in the cycle of life, offering its oxygen, its shade, and eventually its body to nourish the soil. It exists not for itself alone but as part of a larger symphony. How Can We Believe? To believe, you must experiment. Look for love not in grand gestures but in the small, undeniable truths of existence: - The way your heartbeat syncs with someone you care for. - The instinct to protect a child, even if they are not your own. - The selfless cooperation of organisms across the planet. - The beauty of gravity pulling stardust into worlds. Love is not something we invented; it is the essence of how life sustains and evolves. It is the connective tissue that holds the universe together, from the smallest blade of grass to the furthest galaxy. When you understand love as connection—rooted in biology, physics, and the fabric of existence—it ceases to be a mystery or a dream. It becomes the most tangible thing in the universe.

Embracing Empathy and Compassion

In our rapidly evolving world, the quest for wellness often leads us to explore various avenues —

nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and more...

However, two foundational elements, Empathy and Compassion, frequently remain overlooked despite their profound impact on our overall well-being. These qualities, when cultivated and practiced sincerely, can transform not only our own lives but also the lives of those around us. In this exploration, we delve into the essence of empathy and compassion, their role in wellness, and practical ways to incorporate them into our daily lives, beginning with ourselves. Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another, forms the bedrock of human connection. It is the silent force that bridges gaps, heals wounds, and fosters a sense of unity in diversity. In a world where individualism often reigns supreme, empathy reminds us of our shared humanity. It urges us to look beyond our personal experiences and consider the perspectives of others, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding. Compassion, closely intertwined with empathy, goes a step further. It is the heartfelt desire to alleviate the suffering of others, coupled with actionable steps to do so. While empathy allows us to resonate with the emotions of others, compassion drives us to respond. It transforms our emotional understanding into tangible acts of kindness, thereby creating a ripple effect of positivity and care. Together, empathy and compassion form a powerful duo that enhances our interpersonal relationships and contributes significantly to our wellness. Understanding the importance of these qualities is one thing, but integrating them into our lives requires conscious effort and practice. Acknowledging our own struggles, being kind to ourselves, and recognizing our intrinsic worth. Self-compassion is not about self-indulgence or lowering standards; rather, it is about treating ourselves with the same kindness and understanding that we would offer a friend in distress. This foundational practice not only improves our mental health but also equips us to extend genuine empathy and compassion to others. One of the first steps towards self-compassion is self-awareness. By becoming attuned to our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, we can better understand our needs and respond to them appropriately. Mindfulness practices such as meditation, centering prayer and journaling can aid in this process, helping us cultivate a non-judgmental awareness of our inner world. As we learn to observe our thoughts and feelings without criticism, we develop a kinder, more accepting relationship with ourselves. Once we have laid the groundwork of self-compassion, we can begin to extend empathy and compassion outward. This process often starts with active listening — an essential skill that allows us to truly hear and understand others. Active listening involves more than just hearing words; it requires paying attention to body language, tone of voice, and the emotions behind the words. By practicing active listening, we validate others' experiences and show that we genuinely care about their feelings. "I Hear You...I Deeply Hear You - What I Hear You Saying Is...". Empathy and compassion also thrive in an environment of open-mindedness; By challenging our own biases and preconceived notions, we create space for genuine understanding. This openness allows us to appreciate the diversity of human experiences and recognize the common threads that bind us together. It fosters a sense of solidarity and community, which is essential for collective wellness. Furthermore, empathy and compassion are closely linked to our ability to forgive—both ourselves and others. Holding onto grudges and past hurts can weigh heavily on our mental and emotional well-being. Forgiveness, on the other hand, liberates us from the burden of resentment and opens the door to healing and reconciliation. It is an act of self-compassion that allows us to move forward with a lighter heart. As we cultivate these qualities, we also discover the profound impact they have on our physical health. Numerous studies have shown that practicing empathy and compassion can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and strengthen the immune system. These benefits arise from the positive emotions associated with these practices, which promote a state of relaxation and well-being. Thus, empathy and compassion not only enrich our social interactions but also contribute to our overall health. To foster a compassionate and empathetic mindset, it is helpful to engage in activities that promote these qualities. Volunteering, for example, offers a direct way to practice compassion by helping those in need. Acts of kindness, whether big or small, can also make a significant difference. Simple gestures like offering a smile, a kind word, or a helping hand can brighten someone's day and reinforce our own sense of purpose and connection. In addition to external actions, cultivating empathy and compassion requires internal reflection. This involves examining our motivations and intentions, and ensuring that our actions are aligned with our values. By reflecting on our behavior and its impact on others, we can continuously improve our ability to empathize and act compassionately. The practice of gratitude is another powerful tool for nurturing empathy and compassion. By regularly acknowledging and appreciating the positive aspects of our lives, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we have. This shift in perspective enhances our empathy by making us more aware of the blessings and struggles of others.  It fosters a sense of interconnectedness and reminds us of the shared human experience. Moreover, empathy and compassion are not static traits but dynamic skills that can be developed and strengthened over time. Just as physical exercise builds muscle, regular practice of empathy and compassion enhances our capacity for these qualities. It involves a conscious effort to step out of our comfort zones, challenge our assumptions, and embrace the complexities of human emotions. In conclusion, empathy and compassion are integral components of wellness that enrich our lives in profound ways. They foster deep, meaningful connections, enhance our emotional and physical health, and create a more harmonious and supportive world. By starting with self-compassion and extending empathy and compassion to others, we can cultivate a culture of kindness and understanding.
